Design : Criteria A

I am going take up talking vs technology. I think it is an interesting topic because most of our generation these days prefers to play on computers or is on there phones instead of actually talking to people. Social interaction has increased since we can now talk to people who are half way across the world but forget to talk to people in front of us.

Outline the needs to solve a problem
Talking to people is one of the many things that we require in our day-to-day lives. Take applying for a job as an example, not only do we need to submit a resume but we also need to give an interview and try to convince the interviewer on how can you be helpful for the company or organisation. As teens including me prefer to text instead of talking. Talking not only helps in improving your social life, but it helps to better understand, read people and relate to them. It make us more compassionate and can sort out many things. Not being able to do this  is a big problem and can lead to many fights. If you have had a fight with someone would you rather prefer a text message 'I am sorry (˙︵˙)' or an actual apology.

Explain and justify the need for a solution to a problem for a specified client/target audience

This mostly applies to our generation sadly don't understand the importance of face-to-face conversations. We today live in era were information is available at the touch of a button and technology is used everywhere. The way the previous generation and our generation communicate with each other  has drastically changed. The so called 'millennials' which the generation between the early 1980's and early 2000's are the one exposed to technology science a very early age. The problem is most common in this generation.

Explore identified, real-life design problems set in familiar and unfamiliar contexts

In offices were the younger generation need to talk to people it is hard for them such as making deals in business and sales. They prefer using emails and messages to communicate. Nothing can substitute and face-to-face talk and it helps to close a deal. It is not only in work places were there is a problem but also at home. Families don't talk to each other or even have dinner together. When they even are together they are on there gadgets and hardly talk.

Primary Research

Analysing

I asked 30 people of each age group. Teenagers or people between the age of 10 to 25 mostly preferred to text or message the person instead of having a face-to-face conversation with them. Were as people mostly in their late 30's onwards preferred to talk to people near them. We can see that people in the 'millennial generation' are effected by it. As we can see in the above bar graph the number of people that text 53% of them are kids under the age of 20. When we see the age group that talks the most 72% of the people above the age of 30. We can see the drastic change in the way people prefer to communicate between the two generations. People between the two age groups mostly leaned on texting (39%) although some did prefer to talk (24%) as they thought it was easier. This shows that what a problem it is. If this continues human interaction will be quite rare. Even these days we hardly meet anyone and have a conversation with anyone. Every one is busy with their life that texting has become the main form of communication.

Strengths

I am able to perform basic function in scratch such as moving the sprite, turning it and also rotating it. I also know how to add music and add text to scratch.
Weaknesses

I am not able to perform interactive functions in scratch and the function in which we have to wait for the person running the program.
Opportunities

I am able to learn new functions and how to operate them on scratch by seeing video tutorials.
Threats

The program doesn’t work and I am not able to program the program the way I wanted it to be.

Rules for using laptops in School

Inquiring and Analyzing

We used a software called as Microsoft Power Point. It is used to make a brief presentation on any given topic.  We used it to make a presentation on the new rules for using the laptops. We had to add transitions and videos on the proper way to use the laptop in school.

Scratch Programming

Class 2

We learnt about how to add sounds to the scratch project and add motion to the sprite. We had to time the motion undergone by the sprite.

Dance Party Project

In this project we had to give the character movement to make it look like they were dancing. We used various sprites and gave them motion for a certain amount of time with a beat or music behind.

For both the break dancers I gave them the motion of flip. The girl was a pre set sprite which had all the commands for dancing. I wasn't able to move the sprites behind each other so they are overlapping each other.

About Me Project

This project was about my hobbies and what I like to do in my free time. This is the first project I made with scratch and it was quite interesting.

We learnt how to give the script motion. We also learnt how to change the background and time it to make sure it changes in time. We also learnt how to add a speech bubble to make the sprite talk.

We also could add music in the background but I didn't do it as I didn't have enough time to complete it.

Scratch Programming

Reflection

Class 1

In Scratch Programming I learnt the various ways in which we can add sounds, make the objects move, change the background and make a presentation using the commands given on the side bar. In class we made a presentation about ourselves in which we were supposed to use a character and present our hobbies. It is very innovative, creative and isn't particularly difficult.
