TinkerCAD

This wasn't the first time I was using a CAD software. I have tried AutoCAD before and found it quite hard. This software was comparatively quite easy, although it took time for me to get used to this software. I had created a house because it seemed easy and I thought I was skilled enough to do it, so when I had proceeded with the idea and begun creating it, it was hard and making the house stand and be empty inside required a lot of skills that I had learnt in the lessons.

Peer Reflection

Aamnah's Peer Evaluation

Huda's Peer Evaluation

Website Reflections

I wasn't here for a week. During that one week, we were told we had to design a home page on dream weaver.

We designed the layout of the web page home and a inside page. During the second week,  we had to design pages for two of our home page and two inside pages. I had partnered with Anna in the french lesson but later we thought that it was better if worked alone on the french exercises. Since Anna and I are in different It lessons, it was hard for us to compile the work together. I still hadn’t started on my website.

I started to use wix for creating my homepage. I used a template, which name I forgot. It was a online store for craft materials. They had various elements that weren't needed. Some of they elements was an online store and an about page.  I didn't think that was necessary so I had to delete the page and the elements on the home page. I only kept the home p

I started creating the interior pages.

Term 3: Multi-Language Website (Interdisciplinary Unit with MFL)

Statement of Inquiry

Designers must consider multiple cultural perspectives in communicating effectively by the way of language to suit the need of end users.

Task -To create a multi-language  website

Target Audience - Grade 7 students.

Introduction

I am a student of French, and I have been studying french for almost 4 years. We have covered the various topics in French over the years, and since we are haveing an Inter-disciplinary unit this term we are making a website for year 7. On the website, we have to write the vocabulary and then make exercises that will test what they have learnt. Some of these topics are introductory phrases, numbers, adjectives, colours, and months. In IT, we will be tested on our skills to make the website function well and look appealing as well.  We will be able to achieve this by designing and planning in advance. I haven't tried to make a website without HTML and it is a new experience for me to create a website with a software I have never tried before. In the software, we can also add pictures, links, and buttons.

There are readymade tools that enable you to create a website such as Wix and Weebly, etc. There are web authorising softwares like Dreamweaver that enabled you to design your websites from scratch.

Ahmed
It is an app, about the bad effects of smoking. He has made a video about the bad effects of bad effects of smoking and how it can affect people in a long term. The app is mostly made to raise awareness about the negative effects of smoking. He made it using appypie.com which is an online website used to create apps. He hopes to help communicate the negative effects of smoking across all ages.

Mais and Maya
Project presented:
Creating a professional movie trailer.
What is the project about:
It is a professional trailer. It is about an action movie.
The plot is based on someone’s daughter being kidnapped fro 6 years and the father trying to find her.
It was made using windows movie maker and they used different clips from the internet.
Positive things about the presentation:
The sound effects are really good.
Feedback for improvement:
As it is trailer is supposed to provide a snippet of the movie the trailer doesn’t really serve its purpose. They can improve it by voicing it and actually narrate the things that they type out.
If it needs to be in the tech fair 2016:
I think these days anyone can edit and make a trailer and due to iMovies it os really easy to do so. The project is good but it lacks the Wow factor.

Mikes, Sidhant, and Adnan
Project presented:
They have mad a game
What is the project about:
They made an action game called as ‘the big escape’.  It is your objective to kill all zombies and manage to survive.
Positive things about the presentation:
They have shown the game and how to play and work with it.
Feedback for improvement:
Fix it if there are any glitches in the game.
If it needs to be in the tech fair 2016:
The game is a lot different from the one we saw before.

Mehul and Kunuz
Project presented:
A spy car.
What is the project about:
They made a spy car. They have shown the trailer on how it's made as well.
There is an app along with it as well. They made using bottles, a toy truck, and a modem to control it along with a joystick.
Positive things about the presentation:
They have quite a detailed presentation and how it went on each stage.
Feedback for improvement:
They could have shown a live demonstration of the device. It is quite simple and they could have taken it to the next level
if they would have done something along with it. Something they could have done was add sensors and control it without having to have a joystick attached with a wire. Instead, they could control it wirelessly and code it to follow commands. They could have also mentioned how it could be improved in their presentation.
If it needs to be in the tech fair 2016:
It is quite different and new.

Yanis, Davis and Parth
Project presented:
A Pokemon game
What is the project about:
They decided to make a game. They created a parody Pokemon game. David made the trailer which is quite good.
Yanis used advanced maps, trainer editor and item editor to program and edit the original game.
Positive things about the presentation:
They have explained in detail and the game works quite well.
Feedback for improvement:
It mostly seemed that Yanis did most of the work, there could have been better group work as
Parth didn’t do or explain anything. They could have explained the difficulties they faced along the way
and also how did they start and progress with coding the game.
If it needs to be in the tech fair 2016:
It is quite different and it think it should be included.

Caroline
 Project presented:
She tried to make a graphite conductor.
What is the project about:
She tried to make a graphite light conductor by using a paper and covering it with graphite by colouring it with a pencil. Although this didn't work as the amount of graphite was too less and wasn't able to conduct enough electricity to light up the bulbs.
So instead, she took a pencil shaved both sides to expose the graphite on both sides. She took an alligator clip on both sides of the pencil's graphite which was connected to a wire and a light.

“Developments in Technology could be seen as a blessing or a curse depending on the impact it has on an individual or society.”

Yes, I agree with this statement. The way an individual uses technology can either befit him or her massively or can be a dreaded curse. There are many cases of the developments in technology were it being a curse, aseptically the internet.

The internet perfectly depicts how something extremely innocent can have a dark side. The number of cyberbullying cases have gone up a lot in the past few years and can have serious consequences. These days most kids, although mostly in the well-developed countries, have phones and their own devices from the tender age of 10 and aren't monitored on a regular basis. The internet like everything has its peaks and if the kids aren't monitored can easily lurk into them. Cyberbullying and crime are far more dangerous than most people think. It isn't easy to get away from something that can inflict damage on you despite you being in the safety of your home.

The internet, however, does have a plus. It has brought us all together and helped us  understand the various cultures around the world. It has also helped the student and saved them from spending hours in the library trying to complete assignments. Sharing information has never been easier before.

Although I don't think it is completely a 'curse' as it depends on how you use the technology. The developments in the technology are why we are still alive. Humans would have been extinct if we hadn't learnt to adapt and develop over the years. Technology is is a boon and a curse. It helps us understand the world around us and destroy it as well.

SWOT analysis

Strengths

We are good at art, imagining and creating things. We know how to edit basic videos and make and produce them. There is quite a effort put in creating such movies and have a completely different feel and we have the software and equipment required to make the videos.

Weaknesses

The software we will be using is specifically designed for stop motion animation. Since both of us haven't ever tried to work with stop motion animation this can be a problem. We haven't tried to experiment with the software and play around with it.
Opportunities

This is quite a good stage to understand how stop animation movies are created and showcase what we have learnt. We both love technology, being a 21st century teen and art. This a a good way to display the two things we can manage.
Threats

Making a stop motion video is no mere feet! It requires time and effort to make one. You have to first plan and then take pictures frame by frame. I we fail to do this, because of the time consuming editing and sculpting, it can be  disaster.

Tech Fair (Criteria A)

Criteria A: Inquiry and Analysing

Global context: Scientific and technical innovation
Statement of Inquiry: Developments in technology could be seen as blessing or a curse depending on the impact it has on an individual or society.
Inquiry Question: How can we use Technology to help develop our ideas to create a masterpiece for the ‘Tech Fair’?
ATL: Thinking skills and research skills

Idea 1

What was the product or software developed and how does it work?

Developing an app is something that is something new since I don't know Java script. You can make the app look as you want it too. I hadn't really decided on a topic for the app. By learning simple coding online for Java and try to make and app. The functions of an app are quite simple and easy.

A paragraph on what was developed and how does the product benefit the society.

It can basically about anything and that is something I hadn't decided yet on the topic.

Critical Judgement-

The workload would have been too much and I wouldn't able to complete the app in time for the tech fair.

Idea 2

What was the product or software developed and how does it work?

For the second idea I thought stop motion was a really good idea. It was better to team up since it is a lot bigger project and it would be nice to have a friend to work on it on it with you. Creating a movie is something I haven't done before so I thought it will be interesting. We are going to use a software called as Dragon Frame to create an inspirational or thought provoking video using clay models and drawing on the white board.

A paragraph on what was developed and how does the product benefit the society.

It can basically about anything and that is something we haven't decided yet on the topic.

Reflection

At first I didn't have an idea to use in tech fair. I was looking up for ideas for tech projects and I saw an article about a teens developing an app. I thought it was pretty cool so it is my first idea. Developing an app is something that is something new since I don't know Java script and it is the coding software used to develop apps and games. It will make me go out of my comfort zone and learn new things. I have learnt the basics of  Q-Basic , Visual Basic and C programming before.

For my second idea, Aamnah and I decided to put art and technology together as one and create a video using stop motion animation.
